Chinese Herbs

What is Chinese Herbal Medicine?

Chinese Herbal Medicine has a rich and carefully evidenced history that dates back thousands of years. By most accounts, Herbal Medicine therapy predates Acupuncture and remains the primary form of therapy sought in most Eastern cultures today. Herbal properties such as temperature, flavor, color and direction are all carefully combined to form balanced prescriptions aimed at the specific pattern diagnosed by your practitioner. Consisting of substances such as plants, flowers and minerals, Chinese medicinals are the precursors of today’s Western pharmaceuticals, however they rarely elicit side effects and have been proven safe throughout thousands of years of use.

What types of herbs do you offer?

We offer herbal formulas in tablet form from Golden Flower as well as individually customized herbal decoctions (concentrated teas) that are blended on site by Acupuncturist, Jonathan Dodds, LAc.

What are herbal medicinal teas?

The herbs that are used in these teas are either grown organically here in the US, or grown and harvested under very specific standards in the most fertile soils throughout various regions of China, Mongolia, and the

Himalayan Mountains.  Traditionally, concocting a Chinese medicinal tea requires taking home a collection of raw herbs and brewing them on your stove at home—usually a very messy and time-consuming process. One of the beauties of these concentrated teas is that all the cooking has already been done for you! Now, with these amazingly potent and delicious concentrates, all you need to do is to boil water! These teas represent Chinese Herbal Medicine in its truest and most traditional form and we are proud to be one of the few clinics here in the US to carry this uniquely powerful form of herbal therapy.
